Happy New Year / Feliz año nuevo / あけましておめでとう / Bonne Année / Prost Neujahr / Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku / Felicxan Novan Jaron!

According to the Japanese calendar, it's the year of the mouse (or rat if you prefer). This specimen was crafted from a sweet potato by my son. The tail is the sweet potato's actual stem. I think it looks quite lifelike.

Tomorrow, it's back to the zoo.

well the sweet potato contrasts so well with the lovely mellow grain in the wood.....and as always I love your use of shadow. Quite extraordinary the way it brings your photos to life!
