I keep this little fella in the front yard to guard the echinacea against bumblebees. Personally I think he's just in it for the paycheque: I don't see him doing much besides trying to look tough. Good help is hard to find.
Ok, tomorrow I'm finally starting the long-delayed Really Big Project that I promised a while back. It'll take quite a few days, and I'll let it slowly unfurl during that time.

Excelente Damon, pretty cool guy you have taking care of your echinacea, you should pay him more maybe that is the reason why he is taking it easier you know, probably you will have to include him in the social security system and so on, =). Great Macro!!

man this guy has character! Did your manage to acheive that blur to the flower via the camera or was it PS'd? Its gorgeous. Talk about throwing the spotlight on your subject! It really allows Mr Guradian to take centre stage. Damn those colours are nice too.

@Duncan Galbraith: Thanks much! The blur is all in-lens. Even with a small-sensor camera you get quite a shallow DOF in macro shots, and with a DSLR it's much more. Notice the f5.6: at anything less, there just wasn't enough in focus to make a picture. And an update: as of two days ago, this guy is still there showing his muscles to the bees (who continue to ignore him).
