allyy`* from Singapore, Singaporewow love those clouds! gives this picture a very ethereal feel. looks a bit like a painting! 14 Jul 2007 5:20am rverspirit from Mount Vernon, United StatesThat 25mm gives this one a sense of place...pulls you in ...good choice.. 14 Jul 2007 5:33am Lucca from Cologne, GermanyWonderful tones and lighting here. Did you use HDR-technic in this on? 14 Jul 2007 7:04am @Lucca: Thanks, Lucca! To answer your question: sort of. It's from one exposure, but I did adjust the lighting on the sky and ground separately. I think the result is not too different from what I saw with my eyes - although the overall scene may have looked a bit brighter in person. Natalia from Louisville, United StatesI like 'tunnel effect'; the way building on your right closes up on you. Great shot! 14 Jul 2007 7:39am Madhavi from Worcester, United StatesI love these sun behind clouds shots. You've captured it really well. 14 Jul 2007 12:53pm Sriram from Chennai, IndiaSmashing shot! clouds and the framing add the zing to it! superb, Damon! 14 Jul 2007 7:41pm stijn from brugge, Belgiumcool colours cool light cool composition ... overall cool :D 14 Jul 2007 9:24pm Nick Passantino from Bronx, United Stateswow a great scene here. the building on the left looks like its falling into the frame. 15 Jul 2007 2:04pm Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesThis is really a great composition all the way around. Lucca brings up a good point. When is HDR, HDR? 16 Jul 2007 2:15pm @Craiger: Thanks, Craiger! True - I don't really think of this as HDR (High Dynamic Range, for those who are lost) in the classic sense, but I guess when you attempt to increase the dynamic range by compressing the levels in the image direct from the camera as I've done here, it is HDR to some degree. My intent almost always is to keep a scene looking as natural as I can (as far as lighting anyway) and in this case if I hadn't used these techniques, the top would have been overexposed or the bottom would have been underexposed. The camera's sensor is a lot less forgiving than the eye-brain combination. (I believe that the brain actually pieces an HDR image together out of the data from your eyes which scan a scene adjusting exposure as it goes.) Amr Tahtawi from cairo, EgyptThe shot realy contained me somehow...i love the effectof being in a dream...yet awake..i loved ur approach here as the clouds break slowly accros the sky..witht he sun watching it all... well done ..keep the talent. 17 Jul 2007 12:05am Duncan Galbraith from Kyoto, JapanWonderful lighting again here. This is very 'filmic', sorry cinematic in a way. It appears to be a piece of story. well everything is that i guess, but objects in motion in pictures always conjure up the art of the moving image for me. 17 Jul 2007 2:42pm Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanThis is a really nice composition Damon, excellent lighting, great urban photo! 18 Jul 2007 4:32pm |
