Yes, those are streaks of rain near the top of the frame. And a chair on the roof.
High-res here.

I like the mood here which comes from rain and b&w. I can see three things (at least) which make this capture very interesting: the glance of the street, the bike, the two chairs, b&w conversion, the squares...

@Lucca: Thanks, Lucca! I set out to photograph the sign and a bit of the building around it, but in the end I was so attracted to that wet street...
Revisit ahoy! A very different treatment but for me it still has that same sense of balance as the previous post. I love shooting in the wet, though it's a tad risky for the camera mind (us brits rarely carry umbrellas). fine stuff.

@Duncan Galbraith: What's tricky is trying to manage a camera and an umbrella at the same time... That's what I was doing in this shot. This is interesting: I usually avoid shooting with the widest angle of the zoom lens on this camera because of the barrel distortion, or if I do, I usually 'fix' it in Photoshop. Here I left it as shot and it has a slight fisheye look to it which for my money worked with the reflected light on the street. Thanks, Duncan!
You almost wouldn't believe it was the same place. This looks like the beginning of most childrens' stories, "Once there was a dark, dark house..."

@Helen: Tell me more; tell me more... Thanks, Helen!
Nicely illuminated and I love your B&W conversion.

@Sean Bailey: Many thanks, Sean! Getting the blue diamonds to maintain their glow in black and white was a bit of a chore. I used a bit of extreme tweaking in the channel mixer to get what I wanted.
Nice work, this has the whole shot with a Leica feel happening here.

@Rene: I'll take that as a compliment (and at a $3000 saving too!) I'm sure the true Leicaphiles would beg to differ, though, and I'd hope the 35mm f2 Summicron-M Aspherical wouldn't dare exhibit this kind of distortion. Thanks, Rene!
