Hanami 1

Posted by Damon Schreiber (Toronto, Canada) on 9 May 2007 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

I hesitate to post these photos for two reasons: Our season is later than most in the northern hemisphere and thus most of you have seen cherries blossoms come and go. Also, I'm just not in a 'pretty photo' mood lately. But I'm posting anyway. Actually, this is the only real flower photo I'm posting. The rest are about the 'hanami' or cherry blossom viewing experience itself.

These 'hanami' shots were all taken in Toronto's High Park, where around 1960, the Japanese consulate donated a large number of Japanese cherry trees. For my family, coming here every year symbolises the arrival of spring.

High-res here.
