Smokestack

Those of you who remember a certain series I ran here a few months ago know that I like to pay tribute to some of the famous photographers of Am3. There was one who I didn't pay tribute to not having had the right material. Last week, I finally came across an image that I thought might be suitable. So, who is it?

[edit: I was really annoyed by the sharpening halos around the buildings, so I've uploaded an improved version with better colour]

Would have to say Craig Persel. I could be wrong but the abstract shapes, the silhouettes, the clever composition all seem to point to him.

really interesting capture - did you find the angle to capture smoke behind the cross? that can't be a chimney... i love the red of the smoke. eerie.

@Rebecca: You're right, Rebecca, the cross and the chimney just lined up. In truth, I did have to erase a small amount of chimney from the image to complete the illusion, either that or get the absolute perfect perspective by stepping out into the middle of a very busy street...
