On Thursday, we had a sudden blizzard in the morning. Very strange weather - I stepped out the front door to be greeted by a flash of lightning and a few seconds later, a clap of thunder. This woman I imagine, was caught by surprise on her way to work.
Hi-res here. I'm including a similar photo here of two sisters on their way to school. I often see these two girls walking down the street in the morning in single file. Today with matching pink boots, but only one pink umbrella.

@Portland: Thanks, Portland!
This is a great shot - I've never experienced snow to this degree -it's an eyegrabber for me.

@Sidonie: Glad you liked it Sidonie! I've never experienced Dick Cheney like in your eyegrabber either - and thank goodness for that.
Wow, so much snow. Great capture, and I love the photo with the pink boots. It is really brilliant.

@Lucca: Many thank, Lucca! It was a fun morning.
Awesome capture, very well spotted.

@Suby: Many thanks, Suby!
Wow so much snow! And such a great shot!

@Behrooz: Thanks, Behrooz! You've posted some great snow photos as well. I had no idea Tehran got that snowy.
Cool shot (no pun intended).

@Craiger: Thanks, Craiger! It was about as close to warm as you can have during a blizzard - 0° Celsius.
The great thing about snow is how it transforms our mundane grey cities. You've captured that here. And that's one brave woman.

@Carol: I do love that about snow. I really enjoy walking during snowstorms for that reason. Thanks, Carol!
An interesting shot.. wherever she was going must have been really important.

@Nick Passantino: It's the journey, not the destination... Thanks, Nick!
Awesome shot! I admire her attempt though.

@Bahar: Thanks, Bahar!
I tip my hat to her. It's hard enough driving a car in the snow. Great catch with this shot.

@Angry Buddha: Thanks, Sean! I used to ride my bike in snow as well. It's challenging but entirely possible, and it does tend to wreck them before their time.
great shot! looks nearly like a black and white!! love the atmosphere (although i wouldn't like to be there in this snow storm!!) ;)

@elaine: Thanks, Elaine! I'll let you in on a secret: apart from the woman, it is black and white.
This is (is it not?) the dreamlike opening scene of a film waiting to be made ... about memory shifting and deceiving as time passes, and about purpose in the face of perplexing odds. If it were made, it would be up tomorrow for "best cinematography."
24 Feb 2007 3:43pm
@JS: But the camera got too wet and was destroyed, so the film was never made - it remains a dream. Thanks, Jan!
Oh man, that would suck to get caught in that by suprise. My first thoughts on seeing this were: "this is really white"; that is you've caught the blizzard very well, nice work mate!

@Chris Sullivan: Thanks, Chris!
Is that baby all wheel drive? Nice shot.
24 Feb 2007 6:35pm
@William: I would think not :-) Thanks, William!
Great capture!

@Daniel: Many thanks, Daniel!
This is such a cool shot. Love the strong dark contrast of the lady on the bike. Oh and the snow looks pretty amazing too!
25 Feb 2007 8:54am
@Daroru: Thank you, Daroru! I did have to work at it.
Hee, hee. Did you hear the thunder before it snowed? Quite freakish. Great shot.
25 Feb 2007 6:15pm
@Ella Cooper: Thanks, Ella! I saw the lightning and then heard the thunder. Quite impressive in winter!
What a scene! Great shot.
25 Feb 2007 6:54pm
Wow, she so cool... :)
28 Feb 2007 1:20am
@H.O: Maybe she's cool, or maybe she's cold... I think she smiled at me as she passed by, though. Thanks, Hiro!
This is a great capture. Looks like she's working hard on that bike.
28 Feb 2007 2:24am
@Untitled: I can tell you that she is indeed working hard! Thanks, Shadow!
blindingly good capture Damon. I cant/dont even want to imagine what its like in these conditions. How on earth she managed to stay upright is commendable in itself. The fact its a colour image yet so lacking in colour is remarkable, its brilliant how the only touches of warmth are the ladies face and hands. Somehow amidst all that coldness is the warmth of a beating heart. Love it.

@Duncan Galbraith: Thanks, Duncan! I did desaturate everything but the woman in this photo, although it didn't really make a huge difference to the look. Snow-biking is fun: I recommend giving it a try, though not on busy roads. I could tell you a story or two about the winters I spent working as a bike courier...
Wow, great capture Damon!

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thanks, Alfredo!
