Climb InPosted by Damon Schreiber (Toronto, Canada) on 9 February 2007 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. What's more beautiful, fascinating, and dangerous all at once than fire? Wait, don't answer that. Anyway hope this warms your bones if it's winter where you are. Love=coming tomorrow. Hi-Res here. [Spadina Station, Toronto]

@William: Midevil? Medieval? Yes, I'm going to give everyone here a spelling lesson today :-) Thanks, William! It seemed medieval to me too, though in person, I don't think it looks that way. @H.O: Many thanks, Hiro! Bronnie from Christchurch, New ZealandI'd like to save this for our winter - when you will all be in the hot summer sun! 9 Feb 2007 8:28am @Bronnie: I'll send you this photo in July, if you send me some hot summer sun now! Thanks, Bronnie! Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesVery nice shot! I like this a lot! 9 Feb 2007 8:51am @Craiger: Thanks, Craiger! Jason Kravitz from Brussels, BelgiumSomething about this fire makes me think it belongs in a 13th century castle with the big iron guardians. Thanks for the warm wave - nice shot. 9 Feb 2007 9:37am @Jason Kravitz: :-) It looks much bigger here than it actually is. But thanks, Jason: my fireplace will definitely feel more important now! @Pero: Thanks, Pero! Darren from JapanNice shot Damon. I've never had a fire place but looks like a nice place to sit back and have a quiet drink. 9 Feb 2007 2:05pm @Darren: Indeed, though I tend to be too lazy to do it these days. Thanks, Daz! Angry Buddha from United States8mm...how close were you to the fire? It does have a cool midevil feel to it. 9 Feb 2007 4:29pm @Angry Buddha: Hah! Farther than 8mm, that's for sure. Actually, the 8mm focal length on my camera is equivalent to a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera, so it's not as much of a wide angle as it appears. See my comment to William for the correct spelling of medieval (oops, gave it away). Thanks, Sean! @Still: Many many thanks, Still! badala from Leiria, PortugalQuite intense! fire attracts me so much! Very good work 9 Feb 2007 7:18pm @badala: Well then... climb in :-) Thank you, Badala! adalove from Alcala de Guadaira, SpainLooks great, fire gets your attention so well! 9 Feb 2007 9:57pm Colour blind from Tokyo, Japanhmmm I can feel the heat!!! All I have is an airconditioner spewing out hot air. The colours of the fire are amazing and I like how the surrounding is underexposed to really concentrate your eyes on the subject. 9 Feb 2007 10:49pm @Colour blind: Many thanks, Kelly! I think fireplaces are more about the pretty flames than about the heat, but once they get going, I'll admit you can be pretty well warmed. Michael Zhang from New York City, United StatesExcellent excellent. The slow shutter makes the fire look great. The balance and symmetry of this shot work so well. 10 Feb 2007 4:04am @Michael Zhang: Thanks, Thanks, Michael! @Untitled: Thanks, Shadow! Fred from Easton PA, United StatesYes it does look medieval ( I always use the spell checker in my toolbar before posting ). 10 Feb 2007 2:55pm @Fred: Thanks, Fred! Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, Japannice. if thats your fireplace you're a lucky chap. Hope you're employing it to good effect. there's something undeniably alluring about sitting down in front of an open fire, hot chocolate in hand whether it be alone or with your partner. I have great memories of cold winter days curled up in front of mine back in England. Alas, my Japanese wooden abode wouldn't take too kindly to the idea of open flames. 12 Feb 2007 4:20am @Duncan Galbraith: Mmmm. Chocolate. I'd say the fireplace looks significantly more impressive in this photo than in real life, still, I agree that it's nice to have whether it's hot chocolate or Glenlivit in your hand. Thanks, Duncan! |
