That was the complete headline of the Toronto Sun that day. I have no idea what the article went on to say. Trying my hand at Travis Ruse style processing (keeping in mind that while he uses a Canon 5D, I'm using a Canon G3).

;-) Ruse-ness acheived! Very nice, really strong solid colours with tons of gradiation in them. love the emotions youve captured. I'm trying to capture a little more of that myself, as I've naturally been drawn to the living dead like postures/expressions of recent subjects.

@Duncan Galbraith: Really? I've tried a new set of pp steps: sharpen as normal, then use Unsharp Mask to increase local contrast (settings: 10-20, 50, 0), then duplicate the layer, set the opacity 50-80% and the blend mode to 'soft light'. You can then desaturate the new layer if you find the colours too strong. A mild dose of Shadow/Highlight to even things out, and you're left with some groovy contrast.

As to the relative animation of subjects on subways, I find it has a lot to do with the time of day. Mornings, people look quiet but wary, more animated in the afternoon, lively in the early evening, and zombie-like late at night. In general, I think people konk out and zone out way more on the trains in Japan, so good luck!
