@Still: Thank you, Still! Sidonie from Sydney, AustraliaWhat is it about old bicycles that cries out for pity? Looks like this one will be chained to the post for years unless the local authorities remove it. I had to walk past a similar "orphan" for months and months until one day I reported it to the police - perhaps the owner had been kidnapped etc, I told them. Within a week it disappeared. This one looks particularly bereft of hope in all that snow. Great subject, as you can guess ... 21 Jan 2007 2:17pm @Sidonie: Yes, this one has been here for a while and I suspect will be there for some time since. It's happier now, though having become an Internet Celebrity. Thanks, Sidonie! @Jenny: Well, when precipitation occurs and the ground temperature is below freezing, we generally do get snow. This is Toronto, Canada after all. Our snow was delayed this year, but it did arrive eventually. They've never cancelled winter here yet - summer a few times - but never winter. @badala: Obrigado, Badala! Sylvia from Milano, ItalyI love this! It is so symmetrical, the colors, the snow, although of course I immediately looked for some YELLOW snow, right by the back tire. Well, we all have our issues.... 21 Jan 2007 5:19pm @Sylvia: :-) Thanks, Sylvia. Pero from Kyoto, JapanYeah, what a coincidence. we are on the same subject. Like your photos a lot. The previous one is especially excellent. 21 Jan 2007 5:40pm @Pero: Thanks, Pero! The previous photo thanks you too. Lyndsey Le from Houston, TX, United StatesFor God sake, can somebody come and unlock me? :) Very interesting old subject, but always new idea! 21 Jan 2007 6:42pm @Lyndsey Le: Thanks, Lyndsey! The more I walk around, the more abandoned bicycles I notice. I could make a good series of them, but I'm afraid it would get boring fast. For now, let's just call this my take on the genre. objectif-plume from Belgiumvieux vélo, rouille et mauvais temps... mais belle photo 21 Jan 2007 7:23pm @objectif-plume: Merci beaucoup, OP! @H.O: Thanks, Hiro! I love 自転車 too. William from United StatesReminds me of my beach cruiser-hey that's not the beach-great subject/snow shot. 22 Jan 2007 3:49am @William: Thanks, William! I'll bet the bike wishes it were on a beach, though. I know I do... Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, JapanSad. Poetically sad. I'd have messed this up in PS ;) Thanks for the comments regarding the wheels off stuff. I know. I know. I've been experimenting a bit of late (I grew up with wet processing and I'm still a PS luddite) and I appreciate when people tell me Ive gone too far! The wheels will no doubt be off again...make sure you speak up. 22 Jan 2007 9:06am @Duncan Galbraith: Um... well as long as you know what you want to say in your images. My opinion is just my opinion - worth precious little on the open market. (That's why I so enjoy giving it away). @Dimitrios: Thanks, Dimitrios! |
