Stu from Kyoto, Japanvery intrigued by this series damon. my comment on yesterday's post got chewed up by the spam filter so here goes again.... 2 Jan 2007 5:39am @Stu: Ah well, it's an open-ended question, so any answer is equally valid. Thanks for your thoughts, Stu! @Kheoh Yee Wei: Thanks, Kheoh! Martin from Krems, AustriaGreat. I like how he stands out in white and not moving, while the other people are dark and passing by. 2 Jan 2007 9:00am @Martin: Thanks, Martin. It just worked out like that, and as you said, really adds to the recorded image I think. Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, Japan'George had stood like one transfixed, at hearing his doom thus suddenly pronounced by a power that he knew was irresistible.' 2 Jan 2007 10:53am @Duncan Galbraith: Wow, Harriet Beecher Stowe! That's quite an allusion to pull out of your hat! Me? I'm the photographer, of course. We're exempt from metaphors. I'm glad, though that I changed the captions on these at the last minute to leave room for more interpretation. Or course reality was more prosaic: he was checking the hockey scores on a video monitor. Anyway, as far as I know, he's safe to this day. @Makoto: Thanks, Makoto! Here's hoping for a beautiful year of the Inoshishi! Paul Ricciardi from West Hartford, United StatesDuncan put it very nicely, the contrast between both the colours he wears and his lack of movement seem to mark him as different. 2 Jan 2007 1:46pm @Paul Ricciardi: Yes, he was an island of oblivious calm in a swirling sea of humanity... Thanks, Paul! @Angry Buddha: :-) Too late I think. Thank, Sean. Sylvia from Milano, ItalyThe "Stand Back" sign in the background really makes this clever as well as wonderfully photographed. 2 Jan 2007 8:11pm @Sylvia: it's great when little details like that reinforce the subject. Thanks, Sylvia! objectif-plume from Belgiumc'est la file pour avoir la chance d'être sur ta photo. superbe 2 Jan 2007 8:39pm @objectif-plume: :-) C'est drôle, ça. Merci, OP! @badala: Thanks, Badala! jc from Tokyo, Japanlike the strong contrast in this one, and well looking forward to your subway shots this year... 3 Jan 2007 1:31am @jc: Thanks, John! I hope a few of them turn out! Still from Valence, FranceI like the way of you give the feeling of loneliness of this man! 3 Jan 2007 10:55am @Still: Thanks, Still. I enjoy working to accentuate a feeling like this. Martine Lapointe from Québec, Canada"Captain Canada" between the ghosts... I love it! 4 Jan 2007 2:02am @Martine Lapointe: Or perhaps he's the ghost? Thanks, Martine! |
