H.O from Victoria, CanadaIs that your home dantist ? :D 27 Dec 2006 5:02am @H.O: Not my home or my dentist! :-) Thanks, Hiro! Still from Valence, FranceWhat a lovely shot. Composition colors and light are so harmonious.. My new favorite on your blog! 27 Dec 2006 8:19am @Still: Wow, thanks Still! This is one of those that I personally liked very much, but wasn't sure if it would have enough impact for others to appreciate. Glad you liked it. objectif-plume from Belgiumtrès belle photo. on se croirait dans le décors d'un film américain! 27 Dec 2006 8:34am @objectif-plume: Ou bien un film français, no? Merci, OP! Jason Kravitz from Brussels, BelgiumHa great shot 27 Dec 2006 10:19am @Jason Kravitz: ~shudder~ For a great bit of home dentistry, I highly recommend Denti/Teeth - an Italian film from a few years ago. Thanks, Jason! @Fernando D. Rubio: Thank you, Fernando! Leslie Horacek from BelgiumWonderful night shot. Hmmm, Dentist and a Barber sounds a bit "Sweeny Todd" for my taste. Does he and his wife also sell meat pies? heheheh..... [url= 27 Dec 2006 10:59am @Leslie Horacek: Yikes! I just read your link... I never knew that Sweeny Todd was a real demon barber. I thought it was just a play. Thanks, Leslie! Shadow Mountains from Kyoto, JapanIt's a lovely capture. Dentist and barber together...there's convenient! Ii seki ni cho! 27 Dec 2006 12:36pm @Shadow Mountains: Thanks, Shadow! Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, JapanI have to try and 'see' this kind of thing more. I cant envisage me taking this, and more fool me for it. You have an uncanny knack of seeing potential and realising it. I'm always searching for stuff yet often cant see the wood for the trees. Good job. 27 Dec 2006 1:42pm @Duncan Galbraith: I'm always telling trees to get out of the way of the forest :-) I think in this case, I was attracted by the way the tree blocked the direct porch light, creating this lovely glow. So I could only photograph it by standing in one particular spot on the sidewalk. I probably didn't notice the dentist/barber signs when I took the shot, and in a way, I think they detract from the image. But I'm glad they provided some laughs. And I couldn't decide between colour or black and white, so you see the result of my compromise. @Angry Buddha: Thanks, Sean; This scene is all about the light. Sylvia from Milano, ItalyDefinitely great lighting---looming tree--- dentist and barber and a BLOOD LETTER would make it just complete. But you folks in Canada have Communist Medical system right? So do you still do blood letting or is it all with leeches like we do in Arkansas? Ya'll have a lotta leeches if I remembers correctly.... 27 Dec 2006 8:30pm @Sylvia: :-) Thanks, Sylvia. The medical system may be communist, but the barbers and dentists are still very much capitalist. Especially the &$*!@#$£¡ dentists! But bloodletting... That seems to ring a bell... I hate to prove you right, but the Giller prize winner this year is entitled Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures, and is written by an actual communist dottore. Adiemus from Christchurch, New ZealandThis is wonderfully atmospheric, the 'compromise' in colour is wonderful and brings out the play of light and shadow. thank you. 28 Dec 2006 7:27am @Adiemus: Thanks, Ademus! Glad you liked it. Sylvia from Milano, Italy'bloodletters' I knew that. Really. Spelling mistakes are devastating. I'm going to sniff some ground up leeches to get over my shame. My mum is sending me the book, should be a Fun Commie Read! 28 Dec 2006 7:29am @Sylvia: Hee hee, first I was thinking you meant graffiti written in blood. @Madhu: Thank you very much, Madhu! |
