@wanganeges: Thanks, Wanganeges. It was just a fluke; parts of it looked so good in black and white, but you know fruit looks better in colour, so I couldn't decide.

Yeah, you need to keep a few kinds of measurements in your head when you live in Canada! We measure temperature in celsius, volumes in litres, highway distances in KM, but short distances (carpentry for example) in inches, and when we shop, usually it's pounds, though the doctor measures our weight in kilos. Someone help us!

@Zach Siebert: Memorable line from Spinal Tap: "There's a fine line between clever and stupid". I kind of feel that applies to this image (I mean the photoshopping). So I couldn't quite decide whether it was clever or stupid, artistic or cheesy. I also remember that in the original, there was a major conflict in white balance between the artificially lit foreground, and the naturally lit background (which looked blue). I think that was the main reason I went with the half colour/half monochrome look. Thanks so much for your comments, Zach! I enjoy being made to rethink.
