@H.O: Thank you, Hiro! Helen from Melbourne, AustraliaThe building is fantastic. Great shot. The work on the front side makes it look almost pixelated. I am still making my mind up about the pole on the bottom right. 4 Dec 2006 8:15am @Helen: Thanks, Cosmic Carrot, erm, Helen! I'm not entirely sure, but I think the patches on the front are the effect of rain starting to dry in patterns. As to the pole, I like to imagine that that thin wire is powering the entire building. Zach Siebert from Bologna, Italynice. i'd like to see an "industry" series, damon. 4 Dec 2006 10:07am @Zach Siebert: Hmm... Gotta think about it. There are definitely some interesting locations around town that I haven't spend much time shooting at. Thanks for the idea, Zach, and great photo today, by the way. What did I tell you about photographing the Italian people? Speaking of series, I've already mentioned previously, that this is part of a series of rainy day shots from the same day, but I've just realised that this and the last two stand alone as a sort of "primary colours" series. Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, JapanIts not only the processing which makes this for me but the tilt of the shot...I find it almost second nature to shoot this type of shot so its all vertically aligned and once Im home I immediately regret it. But for some reason I never learn. 4 Dec 2006 11:27am @Duncan Galbraith: Heh... I feel the same way about my own shots to tell the truth, and I seem to recall an amazing shot you had inside a train - tilted a good 20°. Anyway the tilt here is sort of in the eye of the beholder: with all the perspective, it would be impossible to get a straight horizontal, but at about the centre point in the front face of the building, it is aligned vertically. Mind you that point is about 2/3 to the right in the photo, but one way or another, I think it balances itself. @Myst: Thank you, Myst! @Gnarf: Thanks, Gnarf. It's wonderful when the sky gives us these great effects. @Craiger: Thanks, Craiger! @Saurabh: Just luck, my friend. Thanks! Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaYou've certainly captured this brilliantly with the long exposure. The patterns on the front of the building reminds me of Tetris. Excellent. 4 Dec 2006 9:43pm @Chris Sullivan: Thanks for your kind words, Chris. They do kind of look like Tetris, don't they. Mammoth In Chief from Naperville, United StatesIntresting perspective and very interesting building... This image really lives. 4 Dec 2006 9:50pm @Mammoth In Chief: Thank you, Mammoth. I felt some drama there. @Craig Persel: I was a great combination of time and weather, that did produce some unusual lighting effects. Ben from New York City, United StatesGreat capture! You captured so many tones and lights! Very nice color. 5 Dec 2006 4:01am @Ben: Many thanks, Ben. Love your Chinatown Teen. wanganeges from concord, ma, United Statesnicely lit and interesting textures ... well done! 5 Dec 2006 10:57am @wanganeges: Thanks so much. By the way, your behind the mask photo really freaked me out. |
