Paul Ricciardi from Lexington, United StatesI like this, the various expressions and people encompassed here provides for a photo that keeps you looking at it for a while and a photo that has many many stories to tell. And did you add that sponge bob in there? 27 Nov 2006 5:17am @Paul Ricciardi: Thanks, Paul. Sponge Bob was already on scene. Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, Japana really warm photo. lovely expressions and I like the fact theyre not a a straight horizontal. nice conversion to b&w. 27 Nov 2006 6:54am @Duncan Galbraith: Thanks, Duncan. I don't do that many black and whites because I generally like what colours add to a scene in my photos. I'm always happy with the few occasions where I think I can show everything important in just greyscale tones. In these last few, I've toned down or eliminated the colours more than ususal, because I find the hues in this parade (and often the spectators' attire) rather garish and distracting for the most part. Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaHaha, crisp photo. Black and white def the way to go. Everyone seems so happy! Nice shot! 27 Nov 2006 8:04am @Chris Sullivan: Thanks so much, Chris. Your last couple shots have floored me. Zach Siebert from Bologna, Italyi don't believe you. you were wearing a costume. they seem very entertained. 27 Nov 2006 8:18am @Zach Siebert: I was amazed at the general mood of the spectators that day. Almost everyone was just grinning, which amazes me considering how long many of them reserved their bit of sidewalk. Kelvin Chan from New York, United StatesVery powerful shot. I love group portrait candids; there are so many pure emotions and expressions to observe all in one picture. This B&W is top notch. Can't praise enough about it. 27 Nov 2006 2:34pm @Kelvin Chan: Thanks Kelvin. Imagine how much better it would have been with a D80: 10 better! Ryan from CanadaGreat photo. The emotions range from the tough guy on the top left to the two girls giggling in the foreground. I like it. 27 Nov 2006 3:31pm @Ryan: Yeah, I like the guy with his arms folded. He provides balance. Thanks, Ryan. Mike from Sheffield, United KingdomYour street scenes/people shots are wonderful! This is a great capture! 27 Nov 2006 3:32pm @Mike: Thanks a lot, Mike. Ali-G from Ottawa, CanadaThis has to be in front of City Hall? The two women in the front make this shot for me - really makes me wonder what you did to get that conspiratorial exchange going. Good stuff. 27 Nov 2006 3:43pm @Ali-G: I can answer two questions. 1) Hydro building. 2) I just held up the camera with one hand and waved with the other. And I said what the title says. Darren Halliday from Toyko, JapanExcellent just amazing all those smiles you got. Great one. 27 Nov 2006 4:05pm @Darren Halliday: Thanks Darren. Smiles aren't usually this easy. Martine Lapointe from Quebec, CanadaWonderful! You're a very good urban's photograph! 27 Nov 2006 5:25pm @Martine Lapointe: Merci Beaucoup! Kenn from New York, United StatesYu know what this photo reminds me of? You might think I'm crazy but I think of the old coca cola commercial the one with the numerous faces from all over the world. This photograph seems to have the same power, everyone in the picture seems to be from different stages of their lives yet they gather for one moment. Amazing. 27 Nov 2006 9:29pm @Kenn: Thanks for the thought, Kenn. This event really seems to have the power to unite young and old. I'm not a big "holiday spirit" kind of guy, but even I almost felt a twinge of emotion. Luckily it passed. Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgiumwhat a great group of people - lots of characters there 27 Nov 2006 9:55pm @Jason Kravitz: Definitely! Colour blind from Tokyo, JapanWhat a fantastic shot!!!!! THis brought such a big smile to my face. It seems even in the winter months breaking out a smile is still 'doable'. I love this shot, it's got such emotion and sends hearts racing. You would have had to pay a lot of money to organise and take the same shot. 27 Nov 2006 11:25pm @Colour blind: I have more from the event, but this seemed to encompass the mood best. Thanks for your kind words, Colourblind. Michael Zhang from New York City, United StatesBeautiful B&W conversion. I love the baby on the bottom right with his/her father. Each facial expression is priceless. 27 Nov 2006 11:40pm @Michael Zhang: Thanks, Michael. There are a few parent/child pairs in here that I enjoy picking out. Ben from New York City, United StatesNice shot! So many faces and so many directions! 28 Nov 2006 2:03am @Ben: Definitely interesting when people are looking in different directions! Thanks, Ben. Joe Thorn from United StatesThe best group shot I've seen in a long time. Awesome. 28 Nov 2006 3:02am @Joe Thorn: Wow. Thank you, Joe. @H.O: Thank you so much, Hiro. Addey from London, United KingdomCute, really cute. Quite funny! I love the B&W. 30 Nov 2006 2:47pm @Addey: Thanks! @Visions by Dean Christopher.: Thanks! |
